The French girl showed good speed all weekend and recorded the fastest lap in either moto, but unfortunately poor starts cost her valuable time in the early stages of each moto and she had to be content with third overall in the GP with fourth and third places in the two motos. Quickly moving forward in the first moto on Saturday afternoon, she collided with a rival as she challenged for third place and the resultant fall meant that she had to fight to recover to fourth place at the finish. After completing the opening lap of race two on Sunday morning in seventh place, she eventually finished third to secure third place over the weekend and has advanced one position to third in the championship, but is still 23 points from the series leader and has only an outside chance of the title in the final round in the Czech Republic on July 27.
Livia Lancelot: “Unfortunately this weekend was not as good as the last round in France, even though my riding and my speed were again good. I had some fast lap times in the practice sessions and both races, but I had two horrible starts; I can’t explain what exactly what happened but each time it seemed a longer time than usual before the gate fell. In the first race I recovered quickly to fourth behind Meghan, but she changed her line in a corner and touched my front wheel; I crashed, and then had to come back through again to finish fourth. The second start was even worse; I took off maybe five tear-offs already on the opening lap and then finished third to salvage a podium result even though it’s really difficult to pass when you’re tenth or twelfth on the opening lap. The girls in those positions do not have the same level and sometimes they don’t jump, so you have to be careful and at the same time take some risks. For sure it’s now more than difficult for the championship, but I will continue working hard before the last GP in the Czech Republic.”
