Beaton found himself initially down in twenty-fourth position in the opening MX2 moto but the Australian persevered throughout the thirty-five-minute race to advance to fifteenth at the chequered flag. A better start in race two saw him complete the opening lap in thirteenth position and within two laps he was already ninth; he kept charging to finish the race eighth and is also ranked eighth in the series standings, just fourteen points shy of the rider holding fourth place.
Sterry quickly put behind him the distraction of a start-gate neighbour who hit the gate to complete the opening lap of the first moto in twelfth position and advanced to ninth at half-distance before relinquishing one position in the closing stages. Initially fifteenth in race two, he was involved in a terrific battle for world series points until an incident after twenty minutes robbed him of all chances of adding to his scoreline. Two other riders had collided on the exit from a blind turn and the Englishman, unable to avoid the carnage, could not rejoin the race as his bike was damaged in the impact. He now holds fifteenth in the series standings.
Adam Sterry: "The rider next to me at the start of race one hit the gate and that distracted me so my start was not so good, but I made some good moves on the opening lap to get to twelfth and could move forward to ninth place before losing one place just before the finish. We made some adjustments for race two and I was again racing in the points until two other riders crashed together and I could not avoid their bikes. I'm OK, but the radiator was damaged so I could not continue."
Jed Beaton: " This weekend wasn't really good, in the first moto I collided with another rider and had no front brake in the race but came back from twenty eighth to fifteenth. My start in the second moto was much better and I came in the top ten within a few laps; I was seventh with sixth in front of me for most of the race but lost one position later. My second moto was much better and I ended the weekend on a pretty good note, but I expect more for the next GP in Portugal."
