Learning curve in EMX250

Bud Racing Monster Energy Kawasaki's young Americans Marshal Weltin and Tristan Charboneau continued their learning curve in the Dutch sand at the second round of the FIM EMX250 European Championship.

Neither of the youngsters had encountered such racing conditions in their US homeland and both riders again had to transfer through the Last Chance Qualifier with tremendous charges through the pack to second and third places at the rough, tough Valkenswaard track close to the Dutch border with Belgium. Faced with the inevitable poor choice of gate for the points-scoring races, each again showed character. Weltin charged through the pack for thirteenth and eighth in the points-scoring races and is now tenth in the series standings, while Charboneau finished nineteenth and seventeenth.

Stephen Rubini of the Monster Energy Kawasaki MX2 Racing Team travelled to The Netherlands after hurting his ankle during midweek practice. Almost inevitably the handicap of an ankle injury proved too much in sand and the French teenager had to withdraw; he will now rest the injury for a couple of weeks to ensure that he is ready for racing when he returns to action.
