Jorge Zaragoza wins the opening round of the European MX250 championship

Jorge Zaragoza of Bud Racing Kawasaki Monster Energy swept to overall victory in the opening round of the European MX250 championship at Sevlievo in Bulgaria.

The Spanish teenager, making his debut for Kawasaki this year, faced a difficult opening moto on Saturday afternoon at the hillside track after starting outside the top 20 but he quickly moved into the top ten and kept pushing to the end of a muddy race to finish sixth. The track had dried significantly for the second moto on Sunday morning and allowed better racing. Jorge took over the lead briefly mid-moto and eventually finished second to clinch the overall victory over two motos. He now goes to his home Spanish round at Talavera de la Reina on May 11 as joint points leader and will undoubtedly find fervent support from the trackside supporters.

Jorge Zaragoza: “It was a really good weekend for me. I really didn’t know what to expect when I came here as I had only entered some Spanish races before coming here. On Saturday the track was really difficult and my start was not so good but I could come back through to sixth. Today was different and I love the track as they prepared it; I got a good start, pushed really hard and finished second. It's a great result for me and I’m happy for my partners and Bud Racing Kawasaki who gave me such great support.”
